INTRODUCTION:
  • Read “The Introduction To The Course”
  • A highly practical course, interesting, easy, helpful and very easy to understand.
  • This will help you to use the four basic skills: (very important).
  • LISTENING  READING WRITING SPEAKING
Organization of This Book.
  • Nine units carrying three credit hours that you must complete in one semester.
  • You are ready to participate.
  • Each unit is divided into five sections:
  1. Function.
  2. Structure.
  3. Reading.
  4. Writing.
  5. Listening.
Section 1: Function.
  • Different paragraphs are given such as short
  • dialogues or conversation here(recorded but
  • here text only).
  • You can practice listening and speaking skills
  • as well.
Section B: Structure.
A grammar section, you will learn to form and use important grammatical structures like:
The present tense.
The past tense.
Reported speech(Reported speech is speech which tells you what someone said, but does not use the
person's actual words.
Active/passive voice. ACTIVE(S+V+O), PASSIVE VOICE (O+V+S)
Modals(Can, Must, May, Might, Will, Would, Should, etc.).
*one of the most important sections.*
Section C: Reading.
  • Skim(Skimming is sometimes referred to as gist reading)
  • (saves time).
  • Scan(Scanning involves getting your eyes to quickly rush across sentence and is used
  • to get just a simple piece of information.
  • Guessing.
  • Getting main ideas.
  • Identifying facts and opinion.
Section D: Writing(YET ANOTHER IMPORTANT SKILL
TO MASTER).
 
    “Writing" is the process of using symbols (letters of the alphabet, punctuation and spaces)
    to communicate thoughts and ideas in a readable form.
    • GOOD WRITING:
    ▪ reveals a structure.
    ▪ organization that is logical and effective.
    ▪ order of ideas and the way the writer moves from one idea to the next is felt natural.
    ▪ sentence fluency of good writing feels natural, smooth and expressive.
    ▪ The sentences are easy to understand and fun to read.
    ▪ Don’t worry this section will help you to understand.

    Unit 1 Section A Function.
    Asking and Answering Questions
    As you can see in the picture that Yasir has been stopped for over speeding. A
    a police officer is asking some questions from him.

    ❖ ALWAYS PUT A QUESTION MARK(?) AT THE END OF A SENTENCE(ASKINGQUESTION).
    Section B: Structure(Grammar).
    The grammar of the language is the behaviour of the particular
    words of that language. (the science of dealing with the
    systematic rules of a language, it’s forms, inflexion and
    syntax, and the art of using them correctly.
